On February 27th, LuxTag- represented by Lukas Sebastian Vogel- participated in a competition called ‘Blockchain in the healthcare sector in Germany’ in Berlin. This event was initiated by Bundesministerium für Gesundheit (BMG), the Federal Ministry of Health of Germany.

The competition received 142 applications but only 20 participants were able to pitch their ideas and Blockchain-based solution to an audience of experts and governmental representatives. The event started off with an introduction speech given by Christian Schultze – Wolters, Director of Blockchain Solution at IBM. Then, the pitching session began where LuxTag presented its idea alongside other popular organizations in the medical field. The business with the best application concept received 15,000 euros as a reward.

The solutions presented at the event had to be implemented in the following fields:

  • Medical registers
  • Organ and tissue donor registry (for the legally binding documentation of declarations of intent regarding post mortem donation readiness)
  • Declaration of consent (e.g. for research projects)
  • Rights and identity management

The ideas were evaluated by an independent panel according to different criteria including relevance, added value, future viability, and data security.

Even if LuxTag didn’t make it to the top, it was an honor to be selected to be one of the 20 participants and to pitch our ‘Track and Trace’ solution in front of experts and big names of the health industry.
